Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernandez's supporters scuffled with police on saturday , after trying to reach her neighbourhood to show their support. Hundreds of protesters tore down the fences in violent clashes with police , who used water cannons to try to disperse the demonstrators.
The demonstrations come, after prosecutor diego luciani requested a 12-year sentence and perpetual ineligibility for Fernandez, to hold public office for alleged corruption offences. Meanwhile, residents of the wealthy recoleta neighbourhood looked out of their balconies in indignation, and complained about the commotion and noise they experienced, due to the demonstrations.
